Comme chez leurs homologues féminines, nous aurons droit à la finale annoncée. Après être passé près de la sortie contre l'Anglais Averill, Axel Diet a déroule contre trois Français. De son côté, Alexander Broadbridge a été bousculé par l’Égyptien Sameh et le Tchèque Linhart, mais s'en est sorti en 4 jeux dans les deux cas. Les deux joueurs se sont affrontés il y a quelques mois en Belgique : l'Anglais s'était imposé 14-12 au 4ème jeu, avant de perdre en finale face à Antonin Romieu. / Like in the girl's draw, we have the expected final. After being close to an early exit against English boy James Averill, Axel Diet controlled his next three rounds about fellow Frenchmen. Alexander Broadbridge was troubled by Égyptian Sameh and Czech Republic's Linhart but won in 4 games in both cases. These two met a few months ago in Belgium and Broadbridge had won 14-12 in the fourth game, before losing to Antonin Romieu in the final.

L'année dernière, elles s'étaient affrontées pour la médaille de bronze, et c'est El Sayed qui s'était imposée en 5 jeux après avoir sauvé plusieurs balles de match, devant un public enchanté par le niveau de jeu proposé (photo ci-dessous). / We have the much anticipated final in this catégory, between two players who have been merciless to all their opponents this weekend. Last year, they met for the bronze medal and El Sayed had won in 5 games after saving several match balls, in front of a delighted crowd (picture below).

Viktor Byrtus était déjà favori au vu de ses résultats récents, mais le vice-champion d'Europe junior aura l'avantage supplémentaire d'arriver frais en finale : le Suisse Nils Roesch a dû se retirer avant la demi-finale, en raison d'une blessure à la cuisse. Mauvaise soirée pour la Suisse, avec la défaite de Yannick Wilhelmi face à Ondrej Vorlicek. Ce dernier est sorti vainqueur de ce duel très tendu, et nous aurons donc une finale 100 % Tchèque demain. / Viktor Byrtus was already the favourite of this category given his recent results, but the European Championship runner-up will also have had a rest tonight: Swiss player Nils Roesch had to pull out before their match because of a thigh injury. It was a bad night for Switzerland, with Yannick Wilhelmi going down Ondrej Vorlicek, who came through in 5 after a very tense match. The final will be a all Czech affair tomorrow.

Marek Panacek a mis fin au parcours de Paul Gonzalez. Le Marseillais s'est battu jusqu'au bout, mais le Tchèque 'était trop fort et s'impose 3 jeux à 0. Il jouera sa troisième finale de suite à l'open de France et essaiera de s'imposer pour la première fois. Il va rencontrer la surprise du tournoi, Joshua Jacques Phinera ! Le Parisien n'était pourtant pas tête de série, mais il a à nouveau réalisé une superbe performance pour sortir le Néerlandais Dubbeldam en 5 jeux, et sous les encouragements du public autour du court n°8. La mission sera évidemment très compliquée demain, mais l'élève de Johan Bouquet n'aura rien à perdre pour sa première finale en tournoi européen. / Marek Panacek ended the run of Paul Gonzalez. The player from Marseille fought until the end but the seed 1 was too solid and won in straight games. The Czech boy will be featuring in his third final in a row and will be hoping put his hands on the trophy. He'll face the surprise package of the tournament, Joshua Jacques Phinera! The Parisian was unseeded but once again he put in a great performance to beat Dutchman Dubbeldam in 5 games, in front of a packed crowd. The task will be very tough tomorrow but Johan Bouquet's protégé will have nothing to lose for his first final on the European tour.

C'est bien la finale attendue qui aura lieu demain : Lauren Baltayan et Rana El Sayed - photo ci-dessous - n'ont laissé aucun jeu en route en cinq matches, notamment en demi-finale face à Inès Guyot et Lilou Brévard. Ce match sera la revanche du match pour la médaille de bronze de l'année dernière, lorsqu'El Sayed avait sauvé plu7sieurs balles de match avant de s'imposer 3-2. / The expected final will take place tomorrow: Lauren Baltayan and Rana El Sayed - picture below - did not drop a single game in five matches, including their semis against Inès Guyot and Lilou Brévard. La température est montée d'un cran autour du court n°2 aux alentours de 17 heures, lors de la demi-finale entre Antonin Romieu et le Néerlandais Rowan Damming. Le début de match est très équilibré, mais c'est Damming qui fait la décision dans le premier jeu (11-9). Le Corse domine le deuxième jeu au point de mener 10-5, mais laisse filer 5 balles de jeu alors que quelques décisions litigieuses provoquent une certaine tension dans le camp Néerlandais. Romieu parvient néanmoins à garder ses nerfs et égalise (12-10). Il va payer dans ces efforts, alors que Damming insiste sur le revers et ne commet plus aucune faute, et s'envole dans les 3ème et 4ème jeux. La finale de demain sera 100 % Néerlandaise, car Sam Gerrits a causé la surprise en sortant le Belge Nathan Masset (contre qui il avait perdu au même stade de la compétition en Belgique). Malgré son match marathon plus tôt contre Melvil Scanimanico, Gerrits a trouvé les ressources pour s'imposer 3 jeux à 0. / The temperature went up around court 2 when Antonin Romieu took on Dutch boy Rowan Damming. The beginning of the match was very even, Damming edging 11-9 in the 1st game. The Corsican player dominated the 2nd and got a 10-5 lead, but he let those 5 game balls slip while some controversial calls led to some tension in the Dutch camp. / Romieu kept his nerves and was able to level (12-10), but he couldn't maintain his intensity. Damming kept going for the backhand side and no longer made any unforced error, getting away with the 3rd and 4th games. The final will be an all Dutch affair, since Sam Gerrits caused an upset against Belgian Nathan Masset (whom he lost to in the same stage in Belgium). Despite his marathon match a few hours before with Melvil Scanimanico, Gerrits did not look tired at all and won in straight games.

On retrouvera les deux favoris en finale demain : depuis sa frayeur de vendredi matin, Axel Diet maîtrise ses matches et a battu Tyago Joneau 3-0. Alexander Broadbridge a dû s'employer pour battre le coriace Tchèque Linhart en 4 jeux. Pour le Français, ce sera une revanche du Belgian Junior Open, où il avait perdu en quarts de finale contre l'Anglais. / We'll have the first two seeds in the final tomorrow. After his scare on Friday, Axel Diet has been controlling his matches and beat Tyago Joneau 3-0 a little earlier. Alexander Broadbridge had to dig in to overcome the resistance of Czech boy Linhart in 4 games. For the French player, it will be an opportunity to make up for his loss at the Belgian Junior Open, where he lost in the quarters against the Broadbridge.

Les demi-finales ont été une formalité pour les deux favorites, Ambre Allinckx (en photo) et Alina Bushma (face à Sofia Mateos et Michaela Cepova). On vous présentera la finale en détails ultérieurement, mais la Franco-Suisse a remporté leurs trois dernières confrontations. / The semis were a formality for seeds #1 and 2, Ambre Allinckx - picture below - and Alina Bushma (who beat Sofia Mateos and Michaela Cepova). We will preview the finals later, but the Franco-Swiss won their last 3 meetings.

Pour sa première apparition à Lille, Renee Wing Wu - seule représentante de Hong Kong - a causé une petite surprise en battant l'Iranienne Niki Shemirani, 11-9 au 5ème jeu. En finale, elle affrontera non pas la tête de série n°1 Marie-Amélie Callebault mais l’Égyptienne Layla Sameh (en photo), qui s'est imposée 3 jeux à 0. l For her first appearance in Lille, Renee Wing Wu - only player from Hong Kong - caused a small upset beating Iran's Niki Shemirani, 11-9 in the fifth. In the final, she will face Egypt's Layla Sameh (picture below), who ousted seed #1 Marie-Amélie Callebault in three games.

Les trois favoris - Yannick Wilhelmi, Ondrej Vortlicek et Viktor Byrtus - continuent de dérouler dans la catégorie reine. Les deux premiers se retrouveront en demi-finale, alors que le vice-champion d'Europe junior - qui a logiquement battu Manuel Paquemar, 3-0 - sera opposé à Nils Roesch. Nous aurons donc deux duels Suisse-République Tchèque ce soir. / The three main contenders - Yannick Wilhelmi, Ondrej Vortlicek and Viktor Byrtus - continue to dominate in u19. Quel suspense dans ce tableau avec trois matches qui se sont joués sur un coup de dé ! Le choc entre Marek Panacek et Adam Goad a tenu ses promesses. En s'imposant 11-9 au 5ème jeu, le Tchèque a pris sa revanche de la finale -15 ans de 2017. Il affrontera en demi-finale le Français Paul Gonzalez, rejoint par un autre compatriote : non tête de série, Joshua Jacques Phinera a sorti un très gros match pour battre le Suisse Miguel Mathis, également 11-9 au 5ème jeu. Il aurait pu affronter un compatriote dans le dernier carré, mais le Néerlandais Tjeu Dubbeldam en a décidé autrement, venant à bout de Léo Blin sur le même score ... (11-9 au fifth). / It couldn't have been any closer in this category, 3 of the 4 quarters going to the wire. Clash between Marek Panacek and Adam Goad did not disappoint, the Czech boy avenging his loss in the U15 final 2 years ago. In the semis, he will meet France's Paul Gonzalez, who was jointed by a compatriot: the unseeded Joshua Jacques Phinera put on a huge effort to beat Switzerland's Miguel Mathis, also 11-9 in the decider. He could have played against another French guy in the next round but Dutch player Tjeu Dubbeldam eventually had the better of Leo Blin in the same manner (11-9 in the fifth).

L'Anglaise Asia Harris - finaliste en -15 ans il y a deux ans - continue d'impressionner, et rallie la finale sans trembler. Elle y retrouvera la Belge Chloé Crabbe, qui effectue un magnifique parcours : après avoir battu la Guyanaise Ana Munos en 5 jeux hier, elle en a fait de même face à la Tchèque Alexova, tête de série 2. Déjà finaliste en -13 ans en 2018, elle récidive dès sa première année dans la catégorie supérieure et n'aura rien à perdre . / English girl Asia Harris - runner-up in U15 2 years ago - continues to impress and went through to the final untroubled. She will meet Belgian Chloé Crabbe, who keeps on fighting: after coming back from 2-0 against Ana Munos yesterday, she upset seed #2 Riana Alexova in 5 games. Runner-up in U13 last year, she does it again for her first year in the older category and will have nothing to lose against the hot favourite tomorrow.

Nous aurons 3 françaises en demi-finale, dont évidemment Lauren Baltayan, qui continue de laisser un minimum de points à ses adversaires. Tout comme l’Égyptienne Rana El Sayed, sa principale rivale pour le titre. Après être revenu de nulle part hier contre le Français Roméo Bily hier soir, Rowan Damming a maîtrisé son match face au Croate Jan Cerovac. Il y aura deux Néerlandais en demi, car Samuel Gerrits s'est imposé à l'issue d'une bataille acharnée contre Melvil Scianimanico. Un match formidable, que Gerrits remporte 14-12 au cinquième jeu après avoir sauvé une balle de match, et alors que le jeu a été interrompu à 12-12 pour un saignement à la main du Parisien. De son côté, la tête de série 1 Nathan Masset continue d'être impressionnant de sérénité et a dominé Mattéo Carrouget. Mais il y aura bien un Français en demi : après la perte du premier jeu, Antonin Romieu a monté son niveau de jeu et a été très solide pour battre le Suisse Bernet. / After coming back from nowhere against France's Roméo Bily last night, Rowan Damming controlled his match vs. Croatian Jan Cerovac. But there will be a French player in the semis: after losing the first, Antonin Romieu upped his level and was very solid to beat Switzerland's David Bernet.

Pour son entrée en lice, la Franco-Suisse Ambre Allinckx n'a laissé que 4 points à Marion Romba. Son adversaire en demi sera Sofia Mateos, qu'elle avait nettement battue au Swiss Junior Open fin 2018. L'Espagnole est venue à bout en 4 jeux disputés de Yuna Loaec, semble-t-il à court de condition après une période d'arrêt due à une blessure. L'autre match mettra aux prises la Tchèque Michaela Cepova (photo ci-dessous, à droite), à, qui à peu à peu pris le dessus sur Léa Barbeau après un deuxième à rallonge (21-19 pour la Française), à l'Ukrainienne Alina Bushma. Celle-ci retrouvera demain la tête série 1 Marie-Anne Callebault, alors que l''autre demi opposera l'Iranienne Niki Shemirani à la seule représentante de Hong Kong, Renee Wing Wu. On a eu quelques très beaux matches lors de ces huitièmes de finale, notamment ceux des Français. La perf du jour est à mettre au crédit de Léo Blin (photo ci-dessous), qui sort la tête de série n°2, l'Espagnol Augusto Ortigosa Perez, alors qu'il était mené 2 jeux à 1. Il a été rejoint par deux autres Français : Joshua Jacques Phinera, qui continue son beau parcours, et Paul Gonzalez, qui a fini par prendre la mesure de Pierre Vassia après un début de match compliqué. Deux autres ne sont pas passés loin d'un exploit : Arthur Gauthier Minne et Antoine Riehl se sont inclinés 3-2 face à Miguel Mathis (tête de série ¾) et Sébastien Hoffmann (TS 5/8). Les quarts de finale nous réservent un énorme choc, revanche de la finale -15 ans de 2017 : le Tchèque Marek Panacek s'était incliné en 5 jeux face à l'Anglais Adam Goad. Match programmé à 11h40, les 3 autres quarts à 12h20. / The round of 16 delivered some superb matches, especially those involving French players. He was joined by two fellow Frenchmen - Joshua Jacques Phinera who continues his run, and Paul Gonzalez, who eventually got the better of Pierre Vassia after a slow start. Two other home boys came close to a big upset: Arthur Gauthier Minne and Antoine Riehl lost in 5 games to Miguel Mathis (seed #2) and Sébastien Hoffmann (5/8). The highlight of the quarter final stage will be a rematch of the 2017 U15 final, where England's Adam Goad had won in 5 games against Czech Marek Panacek. À signaler les belles perfs du Français Mattéo Carrouget et du Suisse David Bernet, qui sortent le Suédois Edwarsson et l'Anglais Murray (têtes de série 5/8) en 5 jeux. Le pays hôte a un troisième représentant encore en course, avec Melvil Scianimanico (finaliste en -13 l'année dernière). Après avoir frôlé l'élimination ce matin, Axel Diet n'a laissé aucune chance à un autre Axel, Daujon. Le Royannais affrontera Noa Yulzari, alors que le deuxième quart 100 % Tricolore opposera Tyago Joneau et Ilyès Hammouche, qui a sorti la tête de série 3/4, le Suisse Fabian Seitz. Dans le bas du tableau, on retrouve un Français (Amir Khaled), un Tchèque (David Linhart) et deux Anglais, dont le favori Alexander Broadbridge qui s'est déjoué du piège Égyptien constitué par Karim Sameh (12-10 au 4ème jeu). Quarts de finale samedi à 9h40. / Boys U13 are the first ones to wrap up their day and will come back for the quarters tomorrow. Après avoir mené 2-0 face à Zoé Faure, Ninon Lemarchand (tête de série 3/4, photo ci-dessous) s'est fait une très grosse frayeur, sauvant deux balles de match dans le 5ème jeu avant de s'imposer 13-11. Elle rencontrera l’Égyptienne Layla Sameh en quarts, alors que l'autre Française présente sera la Réunionnaise Kara Lincou. Cléo Jahard tout près de l'exploit

C'est sans nul doute l'un des matches de ce début de tournoi : on vous le disait hier, la championne de France -17 ans Cléo Jahard est capable d'élever son niveau de jeu dans les grandes occasions. C'est ce que la joueuse d'Antibes a fait ce midi au WAM, contre la Belge Marie-Amélie Callebault, tête de série n°1. Jahard a mené 1 jeu à 0, puis 2-1, et même 10-8 dans un cinquième jeu où les deux jeunes arbitres ont été mis à contribution. Hélas, elle n'est pas parvenue à convertir ces balles de match, et c'est Callebault qui s'impose à l'issue d'un match dont le score traduit bien l'intensité (9-11 11-9 13-15 11-9 12-10). Dénouement cruel pour la Française, qui a délivré une prestation remarquable.

Les Français ont fait encore mieux que leurs homologues des -13, avec 9 qualifiés pour les 1/8è. Parmi eux, Joshua Jacques Phinera a causé une petite surprise en battant son compatriote Baptiste Bouin (tête de série 5/8). Mené 2 jeux à 1 par le Turc Emirhan Sen, Pierre Vassia est parvenu à inverser la situation, et affrontera Paul Gonzalez, meilleure chance de médaille Tricolore dans cette catégorie. Le Réunionnais Oliver Lamilango se mesurera au favori du tournoi, Marek Panacek. Prochains matches à 16h35. / French players did even better than in U13, 8 of them reaching the last 16. Among them, Joshua Jacques Phinera caused a small upset, overcoming compatriot Baptiste Bouin (seed 5/8). 7 sur 10 pour les Français engagés au premier tour ce jeudi (Tossier, Guilain, Lecordier, Daujon, Joneau et les frères Carrouget). Ils seront 17 sur 32 au rendez-vous des 1/16è. Dont la tête de série 1 Axel Diet, 6ème l'an dernier.

-15 ans filles

5 des 9 Françaises engagées ont passé le premier tour. Aux succès attendus de Daphné Mourier, Ana Munos, Lola Douillard et Rose Lucas-Marcuzzo, s'est ajouté celui de Julie Riehl face à la Thaïlandaise Kanyarat Thummanam. La joueuse de Saint-Cloud s'offre ainsi un 1/8è de finale face à la favorite Asia Harris.

15 Bleuets en lice jeudi, mais seulement 6 sont passés (Mercier, Joneau, Brygo, Ratouit, Oudinet, Morandeau). Les choses sérieuses commencent demain avec l'entrée des favoris, dont quelques Français (Romieu, Scianimanico, Bily).

-17 ans filles

Cette catégorie était la dernière à rentrer en lice jeudi soir. C'est passé sans problème pour Cléo Jahard et Zoé Faure. Elle affronteront respectivement la Belge Callebault (tête de série 1) et Ninon Lemarchand.

-17 ans garçons

Très bonne première journée pour les Français dans ce tableau fourni (54 engagés), avec un 13 sur 19. Comme en -13 ans, plus de la moitié des seizièmes de finaliste sera bleue : 17 sur 32, dont la meilleure chance de médaille, Paul Gonzalez.

L'an dernier, Rana El Sayed avait soufflé la médaille de bronze à la Franco-Égyptienne Lauren Baltayan à l'issue d'un match qui avait ravi les spectateurs. Les deux joueuses devraient se disputer le titre, alors que Lilou Brévard et Inès Guyot tiendront le rôle d'arbitres. / Twelve months ago, Rana El Sayed had clinched the bronze medal after a thrilling match against Franco-Egyptian Lauren Baltayan. These two young girls should fight for gold this year, while Lilou Brévard and Inès Guyot are likely underdogs.

Alexander Broadbridge avait certes été éliminé en 1/8è l'an dernier, mais 12-10 au 5ème jeu par le futur finaliste Melvil Scianimanico. Finaliste en Belgique fin 2018, l'Anglais y avait battu le Royannais Axel Diet, tête de série n°1 ce weekend. Attention aux Égyptiens Ahmed Refaat et Karim Sameh, ce dernier ayant obtenu de bons résultats dans plusieurs tournois dans son pays. / Alexander Broadbridge may have lost in the round of 16 last year, but only 12-10 in the 5th against future runner-up Melvil Scianimanico. Pour son premier tournoi en -15 ans, le Corse Antonin Romieu tentera de continuer sur la lancée de sa demi-finale au British Junior Open en -13. Au vu de ses résultats récents, la Franco-Suisse Ambre Allinckx est la favorite logique. L'Ukrainienne Alina Bushma – lauréate en -15 ans en 2015 – essaiera de lui mener la vie dure, tout comme la Tchèque Michaela Cepová et l'Espagnole Sofia Mateos. Respectivement médaille d'or et d'argent il y a douze mois en -17, la Danoise Klara Møller et la Bretonne Yuna Loaëc seront à surveiller. / Given her recent results, Franco-Swiss Ambre Allinckx is the obvious favourite. Ukraine's Alina Bushma – U15 winner in 2015 – will try and defy the odds, and so will Czech girl Michaela Cepová and Spaniard Sofia Mateos. Gold and silver medalist in U17 last year, Denmark's Klara Møller and France's Yuna Loaëc are also ones to watch.
